History
Legend saysin this area, monks used to sell models of
a Buddhist temple called
" Hwa Pyo Sa ( Hwa Pyo Temple ) " One monk,
who sold such doels , died and was buried. After he was
buried a pine tree started growing on his tomb, and can
still be found there today. It's said that if you pray
sincerely, the monk's ghost will appear to you in your
dream. This tree is like a guardian for this town. People
estimate this tree is about 1,300 years old. In 1996 this
tree was opened to the public as an exhibit, after a protective
fence had been erected about it.
